RESUMO

This work involves the aluminum alloys fluidity length, in which the effect of pouring temperature and the molten metal quality were studied. Initially a permanent mold with vertical partition, with filling under counter gravity was designed and manufactured. In this mold, a several sets of experiments were realized using Al-Si alloys with eutectic and hypoeutectic compositions, ranging up the pouring temperature, and the quality of the molten metal. The alloys were contaminated with turning chips with the same composition in fractions of 30 and 50%. It was observed that all the alloys with and without contamination, when superheated by 10C has a very similar fluidity length, while for intermediate overheating degrees the influence of contamination on the fluidity length was more effective. For the hypoeutectic alloy the greater influence of contamination was by 60C of overheating, while to eutectic alloy was by 130C of overheating and this result was attributed to the greater fluidity of eutectic alloys.
