RESUMO

Minning strip is one of the human activities that most brings impacts to the environment, modifying the local topography, the vegetation covery, and polluting the hydric resources and the atmosphere, yonder provoke the growth of the human concentration due to the great demand of workers. The present work explores an avaliation of urban growth near minning strip (iron) using technics of geoprocessing (morphometric data base) and remote sensing in Congonhas, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The proposed methodology consists firstly in making maps of declivity, hidrographic frequency, relief amplitude and relief dissecation. Secondly, TM-Landsat images were acquired to the years of 1985, 1989 and 1992 and processed with an atmospheric correction and linear contrast stretch and registered to identify the urban growth tendencies of Congonhas, between 1985/1989/1992 and to delimitate the minning influence area. An integrated study of Congonhas urban growth was made to suggest a zoning of urban growth near minning strip. From this test area, the system (SGI/INPE) presented some limitations to work with morphometric data but this work demonstrate the importance of a multidisciplinar study through remote sensing and geographic information systems technis in the evaluation of the tendencies of urban growth, being fundamental to an urban and municipal planning proposal.
