RESUMO

This work proposes a methodology to study reduction of solar radiation by different tree species, ITomexperimental data relating to solar radiation, air and globe temperatures, as well as relative humidity. Five species are analysed (Jatobá, Chuva-de-ouro, Magnólia, Ipê Roxo and Sibipiruna) relating to improvement of microclimate by tree hading. Incident solar radiation data are obtained by means of tube solarimeters, these measure average irradiance (in kW/m2) in situations where the distribution of radiant energy is not uniform. Data are collected beneath crowns of studied trees and in the open simultaneously. Percentage of reduction of solar radiation by each tree are calculated, as well as relative variations of air and globe temperatures. Results show that Sibipiruna, Jatobá and Chuva-de-ouro have the best performance, followed by Magnólia and Ipê Roxo respectively. These results allow to conclude that the proposed methodology is appropriate for this kind of study
