RESUMO

Studies evidence that the final height of the individual results of the interaction between its genetic load and the factors of the environment, which will allow to the greater or minor expression of its genetic potential. The evaluation of the linear growth currently is carried through comparisons with standards daily pay-established elaborated from medium of comments in reference populations. Literature still is insufficient in the briefing of the determinative ones of the short stature of children in pertaining to school age and adolescents. The objective of this study was to evaluate the interference of the genetic potential and the ambient factors in the linear pertaining to school growth, using for this the data base of the entitled project "Infantile Obesity: diagnosis, treatment and evaluation in pertaining to school of the public and private net of the city of Camaragibe - 2004", which had subsidized the elaboration of two original articles. The first one, focusing the adequacy of the current stature of pertaining to school to its genetic potential of growth esteem from the ideal growth cannel (IGC), and as, evaluating the factors associates to the risk of low stature in pertaining to school. The results show a prevalence of low 14% stature, being that the average of the current stature of the pertaining to school was significantly superior to the waited maximum limit of the CCI. The method of evaluation of the effective linear growth, when compared with the adequacy to the CCI, it presented agreement statistics (Kappa = 0,670 p=0,000). On the other hand bigger possibility of short stature in the pertaining to school-aged children with inferior income was found the 0,5 SM, without bathroom and without television in housing it (RP = 2,19 IC 95% 1,03 - 4,66, RP = 2,98 IC 95% 1,16 - 7,66 and RP = 2,48 IC 95% 1,34 - 4,60, respectively) and whose mothers also presented low stature (RP = 1,99 IC 95% 1,23 - 3,23). The findings evidence that the children and adolescents are growing above of its maximum potential of growth, what possibly reflects improvement of the conditions of life of the population, also evidencing the possibility of use of the adequacy to the IGC in the evaluation of the short stature and mainly in the evaluation of the adequacy to the genetic potential of growth of the child and the adolescent. It is observed that exactly in a homogeneous group in income terms, presence of these two items already differentiates the level of the families. Moreover, low the stature maternal strengthens the idea of the interfamilial correlation between mothers and its children for sharing as many how much ambient genetic information
