RESUMO

Workplace strategies to Health Promotion and Quality of Life are important to organizations and they need an adequate aproach and systematization to ensure satisfactory results. The proposal of this research is to evaluate the quality of life of manufacturing workers using a developed and standardized questionnaire from WHO, the World Health Organization Quality Of Life Questionnaire ? Brief (WHOQOL- Brief). This questionnaire was developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to establish the specifics contributions of the aspects that intervene on quality of life of these workers. This is a transversal and qualitative study witch uses the standardized WHO questionnaire to evaluate aspects of quality of life and well being. It was applied in a voluntary sample of both sexes. It has a sample of 164 workers out of the 1200 total. Every employee works in the assembly area, in an electronics products company in the metropolitan region of Campinas. The sample employees work in three shifts. At the same time, demographic aspects were researched, such as: sex, familiar income, age, school level and time of company. The average age is 24 years and it was observed that the great majority of the interviewed workers have one year or less of work at this company. The greatest number has concluded high school, is single and family earns between 3 and 5 minimum wages. The employees ages range from 18 to 43 years; the female population is bigger (69.8%). The Environmental Domain demonstrated negative impact in the quality of life, specially aspects related to the satisfaction with the financial situation and leisure . The Physical Domain presented differences, statistically significant (P<= 0,05), between shifts (shifts 2 and 3), in sleep aspects. The physical domain contributes positively for the quality of life, specially at pain and capacity for the work aspects. The Psychological Domain, aspects such as meaning of life contributed positively for the quality of life. The Social Domain, ?social support? aspects, contributes little for the quality of life, with significantly difference between shifts 1 and 3. Quality of life is understood as a holistic and multifaceted dimension. The questionnaire of the WHO, WHOQOL - Brief -allows us to demonstrate in which aspects (physical, emotional, social and environmental) the Quality of Life is positively impacted or not. The WHOQOL-Brief questionnaire was considered satisfactory for this kind of evaluation and will be able to give subsidies to implement and to keep wellness programs and actions in this company
