RESUMO

After the 20th century there has been, from the society, a great enlargement of the awareness relates to the environment, its particularities and the consequences that environmental pollution would cause to everyone. The industries, aware of these changes, started a alter in their production concepts, trying to diminish as much as possible the production of polluting elements in their processes and, especially, develop new technologies towards the destination of refuses and the treatment of effluents In the production, distribution and transmission of electric energy, changes also happened in the environmental issue, especially during the elaboration of studies of environmental impacts of new hydro electric urines and substations and in the possibility of implantation of mechanisms that prevented the environmental impacts In 1996 the inteStandard Organization ISO published a series of documents from the 14000 series, which instructed the organizations and industries to treat effectively the environmental questions. In Brazil this series was also published in 1996, becoming a research source for the implementation of environmental management system The transmission of electric energy is considered a product just like clean environment technologies insertion in their chains of production makes this product as little impacting as possible. With this goal, this research treats the implementation strategies of an environmental management system in a substation of electric energy: case study of Ibiuna SP substation, discussing the before the system and the main tools introduced in this process of maintenance and equipment control installed in this substation after the environmental certification. The data in this research compose a very important tool and information base for an Environmental management system implementation in the production area and distribution of energy in the country, knowing that in the next few years an environmental legislation and the legal requirements established will take the enterprises from the electric field to the adoption of pertinent practices, allied to their main business In the analyses of the data, the principal advance are in their processes of maintenance, control and adequate destination of waste, incorporating environmental indicators as a toll for investment and cost analyses in SGA
