Escola Normal Pedro II (1940-1950): um estudo sobre a formação de sujeitos

RESUMO
This research aims to understand the relationship of power that had place in the Pedagogic Course at the Pedro II School in Blumenau (SC), above all those between students and docents in the decades of 1940 and 1950. More specially, it intents to investigate how the teachers in this period tried to educate their students and the mechanisms and strategies used by them so far to reach such an objective. Being a Pedagogic Course we tried to investigate in their handbooks advises how to establish and maintain discipline in the classroom and in general in the entire school. To understand the processes in the History of Brazilian Education and the conjunctures in which the disciplinarian strategies were conceived and adopted, those identified by this research, we had to search documents prior than 1940. Further than handbooks we researched annual reports, entrance examination acts, tests acts, and so on, we used documents on legislation of discipline in that period as well. This research used also fifteen interviews with ex-teachers and alumni of the school. In these interviews ten were male and five female ones. The impression we had in these relations of power is that the body became an object in a puzzle play of dominations and submissions present in the scholar universe that made it a reservoir of marks and sights inscribed in it accordingly to the reality of these collisions which have in the embodiment its major test field. In a foucaultian perspective, if we take the body as an expression and support of power and knowledge forces we see falling upon it a lot of discursive configurations productive of truths which can as well reaffirm or recreate the meaning of that body. In this way we could recognize the coming forth of meek and disciplined subjects, result of the pressure performed by authoritarian and paternalist teachers that finally created a relationship of dependency and passivity among their students
