RESUMO

Human actions, in their diversity, deeply affect the environment, making changes which can reflect a state of environmental degradation. With the purpose to contribute with analysis about local spaces, environmental planning in urban and rural areas becomes an important tool, allowing to get a better knowledge about physical spaces and applied human actions. Also, it makes possible to monitor changes along time, helping in decision-making towards alternatives for a better utilization of available natural resources and it offers valuable data for the rehabilitation of degraded lands. Environmental planning has made use of geographic information technologies, such as several geoprocessing techniques for collecting and analyzing data about a given area, which helps environmental administration and research about land use. To monitor changes, geotechnological resources were utilized to generate a geographic data bank about the Barra Bonita, SC County, by combining physical and socioeconomic variables. As spatial unit, the data bank considered censoring sectors delimitated by IBGE in which the county was formed by an urban sector and three rural sectors. To carry out this study, the theoretical perspective of Libault (1971) was considered, which discusses four levels for search geographical Compilatory, Correlatory, Semantic and Normative levels. In order to analyze the relationship between physical ans socioeconomic variables, the initial procedures consisted of observation, register and acquisition of information to compile the geographic data bank, by using software SPRING 4.2. Further elaboration and correlation of information resulted in thematic maps which can guide the county‟s environmental and territorial planning, by understanding its human and physical elements, as well as its relationships in this geographic space, in a global way. As a result, it was observed in the thematic map of environmental planning that 9513,24 ha of the component in a territorial unit of study, 19,65% are to remain protected, as are areas of APP, 22% it possess aptitude I, 19,94% with aptitude II, 10,25% with aptitude III, 28,16% with aptitude IV and none area of aptitude V, for this class add to the APP. The results showed that the search geographical, from the perspective of geographic information technologies, contributes significantly to the development of projects for environmental planning and propose the appropriate and rational use of natural resources available, which preserve and improve the quality of human life and environmental.
