RESUMO

Between the liturgy and the wage: the formation of the police apparatuses of Recife in century XIX (1830-1850) is a work that has a focus of interest the pernambucana police force (understood here as the repressive apparatus that started to be structuralized, in bureaucratic molds, the first years after the abdications of D. Pedro I). In other words, the main objective of this work is to study the formation of the police and repressive device that as product of the process of construction of the Brazilian imperial State, started to be structuralized in Recife in the first years of the decade of 1830. Being thus, it in sends them to a subject still little explored by the Brazilian historians, or either, the study of the constitution process and organization of the police and military institutions of independent Brazil and therefore the analysis of its connections with the State and the society
