Entre a Honra e o Mercado: Análise do processo de formação do movimento sindical docente em Juiz de Fora (1934-1964)

RESUMO

The goal of this work is to analyze the process of teachers movement formation in Juiz de Fora, mainly its union between 1934 and 1964. Placing emphasis on peculiar faculty characteristics that influenced the directions of the movement. E. P. Thompsons view on the labors culture and experience values lead us to identify teachers particularities as a distinct category. From this perspective we consider the notions of estamental honor by Max Weber, cultural capital by Pierre Bourdieu and expertise, by Erik Olin Whrigt; with the purpose of getting the particularities that conformed the development of faculty representation in the city. These particularities and the source exams permit to point the values related to a status condition, an equality esteem among school managers and teachers that will be combined with the exigencies of a classist behavior since the formation of teachers union in private institutions in Juiz de Fora, in 1934. However, the most combative position will be ephemeral and will only happen in private spheres, what proves the effective superiority of the estamental dimension among the teachers union
