Objectives: To identify the disease diagnosed in dockers loose from an outpatient clinic of occupational medicine and to identify port-related musculoskeletal disorders at work, based on the records of an occupational health service port. Methodology: quantitative and descriptive study, a retrospective analysis conducted at the Port of Rio Grande / RS. Presented as a data source tables of medical care for the dock work that used at least since the Labour Medicine Service Port from 2000 to 2009. The data source is formed in the records of the records of medical care provided to workers. In the data collection form was used a pre-determined, built on documents about the topic. The data were analyzed with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) by analyzing the proportions and the preparation of contingency tables to estimate the effectiveness of the Chi-square test. The ethical aspects have been respected. Results: Data were collected from 953 chips. The worker population is predominantly male (90,47%), whichever is older than 50 and the time of performance over 19 years. 527 diagnoses were identified, of which the organic groups most frequently affected were the musculoskeletal system (15,8%), circulatory system (9,1%), respiratory (2,6%) and referring to mental disorders (2,2%). Viewing musculoskeletal diseases, we identified 170 diagnoses, which were pointed out for low back pain (38,8%), tendinitis (19,7%) and neck (12,5%) which together totaled more than half of identified cases. Discussion: We identified pathologies whose involvement may be related to the work process itself, the pace, intensity, physical and environmental conditions, and personal habits such as in substance abuse and health behaviors. Concerning the onset of musculoskeletal disorders, the existence of work activities carried out under anti-ergonomic conditions, such as vehicle vibration and manual handling allowed to relate the pathologies that occur with the different professional categories port. Conclusions: This study emerged a working reality that leads to the formulation of preventive measures for diseases identified. For this purpose we recommend the establishment of intervening actions and evaluative nursing spot, that the relationship between health care through health care makes possible the modification of the reality of work that led to the pathologic diagnoses. This action will allow the production of studies which have technological tools to operate in the conduct of the worker and the working conditions in order to preserve their health.
