RESUMO

This dissertation investigates the spaces of masculine sociability, it identifies some rules and meanings nets in becoming man, focusing you strike them of masculinities symbolized for the sing birds matches in the community Lagoa Encantada, in Ibura quarter. At the inquiry it was mapped out how it processes the creation practical of birds in the community, its circuit, the matches that happen there and the principal actors. The study it was developed through ethnographic inquiry by means of participant comments, informal colloquies and interviews half-structuralized place of the research. The number of citizens that had collaborated with the work was nine interlocutors, all residents in the community and these people, of some form, they were involved with the activity; or with the practical one of the birds creation, or with participation it accomplishes in the sing bird matches. This ethnography is distributed in four chapters that they approach since the characterization of investigated community, it passing for the scenes and interactions of the matches, until the relation of the men with theirs birds. The data analysis points with respect to transference of meanings from the personality of the bird proprietor when they attribute to the bird characteristic affirmation of theirs masculine identity, as also the update of the hegemonic masculinity model from the strike occurred in the matches
