RESUMO

This work brings an analysis on literature in two stages. In the first one, that takes the direction society-literature , the statute of this last one is approached? with its character of universality front modernity, with its character of specify things ? and also the paper of the intellectual, according to vision of Jean-Paul Sartre, relating it with the problematic derivative from the popularization of the culture by television (mass culture), base-in mainly in homo videns of Giovanni Sartori, and collating it with the critical paper of the literary review in this new context, according to shrewd reflections of Alfonso Berardinelli. In a second stage, that takes the direction literature-society , it is approached the literature property, having aimed at establishing this concept of Roman Jakobson as an operational concept for the literary studies, and also the fiction property, salient here as concept essential to understand the reading of literature as multiple and ample, creative of possibilities and as a fomentation for the imagination, following the reflections of Wolfgang Iser about the pretending acts and the reflections of Umberto Eco about the fictional pact . Still in this stage it is approached the forces of literature , according to the postulate of Roland Barthes: Mathesis, Mimesis, Semiosis, as reinforcement to the agreement of the literature universality aspect. Finally, after a conceptualization of the utopia as integrant part of the human thought, defining it as a thought way, as the utopism , we postulate, on the basis of the previous passage, that literature is joined to this utopism , that literature is the same space where the utopian thought appears, a place where the reality is not real, a not-place that still thus is a place, the place where the men can imagine possibilities the most varied, the place where the men can desire the impossible one
