RESUMO

The research of this dissertation is linked to the field of Education, Culture and Society, area of research on Discourse and Educational Practices of the Master Course from FURB, having as subject of investigation the professional education from SENAI/SC Brusque, first phase of the Textile Technician course, focusing on the students discourse. The issue that served as starting point was: Which social demands do the subjects argumentative discourses for choosing the professional education reflect? Within these limits, the research aims at understanding the voices which constitute these subjects as well as the social demands which are reflected in these voices, comprising the students of the professional education, it is possible to contribute to the discussions of this type of teaching in our country indicating, through the subjects who constitute it, means to unchain actions in the sphere of the professional education institutions that transcend the technicist logic. Therefore, the research, which is of interpretative and qualitative nature with phenomenological approach, is guided by the theory of enunciation which allows the comprehension between language and society and, through the discourse, and equally aims at understanding the subjects, their sayings, meanings and forestallments. The subjects of this research contributed to the construction of a text and answers to a questionnaire which were organized and joined in regularities and constituted the corpus of the research. After data analysis, it is possible to affirm that these subjects apply for professional education due to social demands, more specifically the family, school and professional life, the latter consolidating the discourse that links insertion and stability in the job market to the necessity of education
