RESUMO

Aiming to determining whether the plasma has other effects on piglets weaned at different ages that are not only related to feed intake increased, three trials were conducted. In trial 1, sixteen piglets weaned at 21 days of age were used in an experiment with randomized blocks design with four treatments (diets with 0.0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5% of plasma), four repetitions and one animal experimental unit. Increased levels of spray dried plasma in the diets decreased linearly the occurrence of E. coil colonies, increased linearly weight daily gain of piglets, and had no effect on villi height and crypt depth weaned at 21 days of age; In trial 2 and 3, twenty four piglets were used in an experiment with randomized blocks design with four treatments (diets with 0.0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5% of plasma), six repetitions and one animal experimental unit. There were equal amounts of feed supplied by repetition in terms of the weight of the animal. In trial 2, the inclusion of 2.5% of spray dried plasma in the diets reduced (P<0.10) the occurrence of E. coli colonies in the small intestine of piglets weaned at 28 days of age but did not affect (P>0.10) the performance at 28 days weaned when created in challenge conditions, and there were not beneficial effects on villus height or crypt depth. In trial 3, the inclusion of 2.5% of spray dried plasma in the diets decreased (P<0.10) the occurrence of E. coil colonies of piglets weaned at 35 days of age and the inclusion of 2.5% and 7.0% of spray dried plasma in the diets increased villus height in jejunum and duodenum.
