Efeitos de um intervenção em escolares do ensino fundamental I, para a promoção de hábitos alimentares saudáveis

RESUMO

This study`s objective was to verify the effect of an intervention in a school view in order to promote a healthful lifestyle related to alimentary habits of students from public school. Material and Method: the group was composed of 461 students from 7 to 11 years old divided in two schools: 232 students from the controlled school and 229 students from the experimental school. The data acquisition was subdivided in two phases: first some body parameters have been measured to classify the children`s BMI and the fat percentage, then a modified lifestyle survey was applied to identify the children`s alimentary habits. The experimental acquisition has been done during 2008`s school year and was developed at three distinct, but interdependent, moments: Diagnosis, Intervention and Reevaluation. In the intervention phase an educative program was applied focused on physical activity habits and alimentary habits. However, in this study, only the data referring to the alimentary habits had been analyzed. For statistical analysis, the ANOVA split-plot had been carried through. For repeated body parameters measures, between before and after intervention, the qui-square test (x ) had been carried through to identify significant differences in the variables alimentary habits and BMI classification, between before and after intervention in each student. For epidemiologists analysis, the bi-varied and multi-varied analysis had been carried through, the significance`s level adopted was p<0,05. Results: the dominance of children whom had been feed insufficiently was 67,9% and 68,1% in the controlled school; however in experimental school 67.2% and 65.5% before and after intervention respectively. The adjusted logistic regression analysis showed that children from experimental school have a protection factor and more possibilities to have adequate alimentary habits when they are compared with children from the controlled school; consequently showing a positive association between alimentary habits and the intervention in order to provide a healthful life style. Conclusion: the study`s achieved results provide support for new proposals and programs, with larger application that contemplates the whole community in school and familiar environment.
