RESUMO

The variability produced from contingent reinforcement to change and / or repetition of responses has been investigated in behavior analysis. Despite the variability of behavior have made it the object of working study in operant literature, there are few studies which demonstrates the introduction of a baseline for evaluating the effects of manipulation of variables. The study objective was to investigate the variability acting as a property of behavior from an experiment that sought to verify in a 5 x 5 matrix, sequences of answers delivered in a Baseline 1 in experimental stages of training, where the variable was manipulated and a Baseline 2. A second experiment was done to check if the responding keeps in terms of strengthening the contingent variation / repetition, and the extinction (FR = 0) maintains or differs responding issue and interfere in the model of variability. The data have been supported at the selection by consequences model and also characterizes behavior variation/repetition as an operant. The present study concludes which variability is maintained in function of the reinforcement.
