RESUMO

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of nitrogen fertigation on soil microbial biomass, and industrial/agronomic parameters of barley genotypes. The experimental design was of randomized blocks with split-splot scheme with three replications, where split plots represented the nitrogen levels and the periods of soil survey and genotypes represented the plots. Three levels of nitrogen and one control treatment were used: 20, 40 e 80 kg N.ha-1). The nitrogen source used was urea. Five days after barley was sowed, 10 N.ha-1 was broadcasted in soil surface, except in the control treatment. All fertilization after planting was done by fertigation, fractioned in two applications: 27 days (after the appearance of the third leaf), another after 43 days (after the appearance of the fifth leaf) and at barley tillering. Soil surveys were colected at 10 cm of depth at six periods: 25 days after sowing (two days before the first fertigation), 29 days after sowing (two days after the first fertigation), 39 days after sowing (four days before the second fertigation), 47 days after sowing (four days before the second fertigation), 67 days after sowing (flowering) and 113 days (after harvesting). For all barley genotypes were evaluated the weight of a thousand seeds, height, yield, protein content, cycle, comercial classification and harvesting index. The first nitrogen fertigation caused more impact in the values of basal respiration and biomass carbon content than the second one, and there were no modification of biomass carbon content when the higher and lowest levels of nitrogen where used. Highest yields and protein contents were obtained with the increase of nitrogen levels and the application of this nutrient didnt affected the comercial classification of barley genotypes.
