RESUMO

A great fleet of vehicle in Brazil is impelled by alcohol Produced from sugar cane. Besides the alcohol , the process also results, a residue named vinasse. Due to the high D.B.O. (Dispute of Biological Oxygen), the vinasse shows high pollution when throw off in water courses. This procedure demands, therefore, effort to learn the possible ways of logical discard or the adequate utilization of the residue. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of the application of non-treated and biodigested vinasse on soil physical, chemycal and biochemical properties in a Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo São João da Boa Vista, São Paulo state. The analysis of soil properties showed that the introduction of the sugar cane crop in the virgin soil, promoted changes on original structure. The application of non-treated, or biodigested vinasse, brought about changes in soil attributes. Biodigested residue has lower proportion of organic matter, and so, its effect was less evident than non-treated vinasse. The biological treatment of vinasse results in a good alternative, because methane is obtained from this process and final obtained residue appears to be a good soil fertilizer
