Dynamics of Delight-Suffering in the Organization of Nurse Labour. / Dinâmica do prazer-sofrimento na organização do trabalho da enfermeira.

RESUMO

This is an exploratory case study with a qualitative approach with quantitative intake, based on the theoretic-philosophical conception of the psychodynamics of the work of Dejours, with the objective to analyze how the organization of the work relates to the pleasure-suffering dynamics in the work of the nurse in a public hospital of the city of Salvador. The data collection was carried through the techniques of individual and collective interviews with the implementation of an inventory with an indicator scale of pleasure-suffering in the work. The sample was constituted of management and assistance nurses in a total of thirty-seven (75%) of the forty-nine nurses of the studied hospital. The resultant empirical data of the interviews have been analyzed considering the center of direction defined by the categorial analysis of Bardin and have conformed four categories namely: The connection between the organization of the work and the pleasure-suffering dynamics; The professional relationship mobilizing suffering and pleasure feelings; Conditions of work and the suffering dynamics; Collective and individual strategies to resignify suffering. The results of the inventory and the categorial analysis have been submitted to an analysis for data triangulation, in a dialectic construction with the premises of Dejours psychodynamics. The nurses words brought up comparisons about how his work is organized in different links of work, which contributed for the analysis on the relationship between the inflexible organization and the experience of frustration, anger and suffering at work. Rigidity in communication, absence of a formal and sharing planning, inexistence of a plan of positions and wages and the insecurity generated by the co-operative employment bond have been related as unfavorable conditions for pleasure, but these do not intervene with the desire to belong to the studied hospital, considered as a space of professional growth. The results lined up with the premises of the work psychodynamics has favored the analysis of how the organization of the work is related to the pleasure-suffering dynamics. It was possible to identify the use of individual and collective strategies, as denial, minimization or rationalization of the suffering and also the definition of group rules as a way to face the embarrassment and to make possible the resignification of suffering into pleasure in the work. It is expected that this study will be able to contribute for a deeper reflection on the organization of the work of the nurse within hospital scope.
