RESUMO

The goal of this research was to examine the experience of continuous training of teachers on the racial issue, reflected in the Training Workshop for Educators called AWA DE!. This study is inserted under the Line Search "Educational Policy, Management and Training School Teacher" of the Postgraduate Program - Masters in Education - the Dom Bosco Catholic University / UCDB. Specific objectives of this study were: how was the process of continuous training of State for Education Network on the racial issue; verify the materialization of the experience developed, so specific, in schools participating in the Training Workshop of AWA!; Verify the design of directors, teachers and coordinators of the course participants, for the following concepts: discrimination, prejudice and racism. To achieve these goals, picked up for the research council of Campo Grande (capital of the state) where the Training Workshop was offered in two schools. It was used as methodological strategy, analysis of a set of official documents about the policy of education in promoting racial equality of the federal government, and the government of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul also, interviews were conducted, based in a script of questions open, with the following subject of two schools in Campo Grande: Director (a), Coordinator (a) Educational (a) and a (a) Professor (a). The results show that both schools have developed projects related to ethnic-racial issue, however, not incorporated in a systematic manner in order to anchor it in the Educational Project. It shows also that racism, and prejudice and discrimination, are present in the daily lives of schools. Moreover, indicate that the work towards racial issue, has proved an experience "timid" continuous training of teachers, as the government, in fact, not made, offering the course to a small number of state schools, only in six municipalities.
