RESUMO

(Morphology of the extrafloral nectaries in Leguminosae senso lato in areas of dry seasonal forest in Brazil). Extrafloral nectaries (Efns) are found on several species of Angiosperms, including Leguminosae. These structures can be showed under different forms and positions on the plants. This work analyses the morphological diversity of Efns in Leguminosae from a priority area of Caatinga for conservation in the state of Pernambuco. The studied species were collected and submitted for technical used on anatomy and morphology analyses. It was found 35 species of Legumes with Efns in the studied area. Among those species, Efns with a primary (non substitutive) and secondary (substitutive) origin were characterized. Two different kinds and eleven distinct forms of Efns were found among them. A large variety of placement, color, shape, and size were reported here. A key of identification and illustrations are provided too. The data present here enlarge the number of studied species with Efns in the family, and also confirm their taxonomical and ecological importance of this structure to the legumes from the semi-arid region of Brazil.
