RESUMO

This study investigated the diversity patterns of drosophilid assemblages in different hábitats and areas of the Cerrado biome, central Brazil. The goals of the study were to contribute to the knowledge of invertebrate diversity in this biome, as it is poorly known, and o provide support for establishing more efficient conservation and management strategies, since invertebrates have not generally benefited from generic conservation strategies. In this way, three aspects were investigated: 1) the relationship between human disturbance and community invasibility, 2) drosophilid potential indicator, and 3) the characterization of hreatened areas with high conservation value. To investigate the first, disturbed and undisturbed hábitats were compared in an ecological reserve in the Federal District, Brazil. In he second subject, the drosophilid potential indicator was tested in two ecological reserves and urban environments, also in the Federal District. Finally, for the third approach, three areas showing high conservation value in the Paranã Valley had their drosophilid assemblages characterized. The results of the three investigations showed that drosophilid assemblages of disturbed gallery forests were more likely to be invaded, and that the exotic species - along with neotropical species that are typical of savanna hábitats, and widely distributed in the Cerrado biome - showed higher invasive potential. The drosophilid potential as bioindicator was confirmed, with the establishment of a set of variables, at assemblage and species level. The characterization of the areas with high conservation value in the Paranã Valley based on the drosophilid assemblages indicated that the mosaic formation, as well as forest environments of this region must be preserved. In conclusion, this study showed that drosophilids are useful in biodiversity and conservation studies and stimulates future research that tests the hypotheses proposed in this investigation.
