RESUMO

IT has become greatly important as for the implementation of business strategies. IT governance has been highlighted among the academic and market needs lately. It has become an integral part of the governance in any organization. The organizations rule IT and it must be said that some of them are more effective and can obtain competitive advantages from IT. As far as continuous improvement is concerned, diagnosing the current state is of utmost importance so as to define the actions to be taken to achieve the desired state. The organizations ought to be responsible for diagnosing and designing the future based on corporative strategies. The aim was to define guidelines for a diagnostic process of IT governance. The methodology which was used involved the combination of the IT governance framework by Weill &Ross and the IT-business strategic alignment maturity model by Luftman, complemented by the definition of phases, activities, techniques, roles, and in and out information. The process was applied to a case study whose results indicate that it was possible to diagnose the IT governance model of the object organization and also to analyze the harmony level between its components. The combination of the theoretical sources allowed the reduction of the subjectivity level of the efficiency analysis of the IT governance model. It has been concluded that this defined guidelines set allowed the construction of an easily applicable short-term process whose standardized results may be used for future comparisons. Hence, it is possible to get to know and to compare the state of the IT governance, not to mention verify if the organization has reached the level desired.
