RESUMO

The aim of this research is to analyze the dynamics of land use on the urban fringe of Jundiaí urban area in 1962, 1994 and 2001, and its impacts on rural and environmental protect areas on Biological Reserve of Japi, located near urban and industry development, and two state ride way. We utilize cartographical instruments as photo interpretation and geographic information systems (GIS) to create thematic maps using Idrisi software. The results showed a land use retraction in 1994, mainly caused by incidentally environmental laws in this area since 1962, although these effects didn?t remain until 2001, resulting in increment over the categories silviculture, unused land and urban expansion and urban or built-up areas. They also demonstrate a progressive approximation of the weighted mean center of silviculture category related to the Biological Reserve for the three studied years, respectively 6.307,68m, 4.222,54m e 3.446,53m. For urban area category, that values were respectively 5.510,62m, 5.446,29 e 4.686,00m, that implies the progressive approximation of the urban demands and infrastructures of the protect areas which still have species in extinction, as Puma concolor, fundamental for the fragile balance and biodiversity founded on Japi, ecotonal area included to Mata Atlantica Biome
