RESUMO

The quick development of wireless communications has introduced new requirements for communications systems being the use of more selective microwave filters. Different filter structures have been developed for applications in UWB systems (Ultra WideBand). It is presented in [1, 2] the highly selective microstrip bandpass filter. In this work, a bandpass filter was projected and built in microstrip, based on a device with a stubs section in short circuit. The optimized impedance values of the stubs sections, were obtained applying the genetic algorithm. These data have been used to transform the initial filter in a device with two stubs sections in open circuit. This schema allowed the choice of suitable frequencies when they were adapted to produce zeros of transmission and, so, to reject undesirable frequencies. The stubs sections in open circuit were calculated with the MicroStudio software. The filter behavior has been simulated prior to obtain the S21 and S11 response parameters. The simulated filter data were compared with measurements of manufactured and tested filters. Those comparisons have shown that the results were satisfactory.
