RESUMO

This work studied the use of a methodology that allow calculate the risks and the value of information (VOI) in natural gas fields at initial stage of development. It is necessary to know the specific characteristics of recovery from a natural gas field, recognize uncertainties, both geological and the market and also the risks involved in investment decision analysis. The methodology used was developed by Xavier (2004) which was drawn up and implemented in oil fields, where it is used the concept of representative geological models (RGM), which are chosen through specifics graphics to represent different production plans. The optimum production patterns are studied at these models in order to maximize a given objective function. The results are applied in numerical simulation models outlets from combinations of various attributes with uncertainties, and are represented graphically by decision trees. The application is performed in a synthetic case using a gas-condensate field at the initial phase of development. The results show that the methodology is applicable in natural gas fields, showing the benefit of the acquisition of information helps the decision-making process in investments, to set a production strategy that maximizes the financial return
