RESUMO

The maintenance management of medical equipment have always been the basic activity of Clinical Engineering in Health Institutions. There are two types of documents: Work Order and the Maintenance History, that are the principal source of information to elaborate management accounts. Among the various items that compose this documents, two of them are intended for the description of equipment failures and executed services. Usually these descriptions are executed whit no standards. This brings the need to develop a system for description and codification of failures that occur in medical equipment s. This work suggest a methodology for the development of a digital system for the codification of failures in medical equipment. The method used in this work was divided in five sections: 1) Bibliography research; 2) Research in companies and maintenance centers with codification system implemented; 3) Research about classification criterion of medical equipments; 4) Study about medical equipment functions; and 5) Software development: SCODEM - System to failures codification in medical equipment s. The resulted work have shown that the methodology is easy to be implemented, utilised and has great adaptability
