RESUMO

This investigation proposes a new methodological tool for products usability, applied in an evaluation testing with household devices. During recent years, the attention to usability has increased, and efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction for interaction quality are being emphasized and becoming an important competitiveness strategy. But also usability is a key factor for social inclusion of disable people. Several concepts including hardware and software techniques for user interfaces, physical and digital accessibility standards application, cognitive ergonomics and universal design helps to reach a technical understanding of the nature of human-environment interaction. It is presented an instrumental, four-step human interaction evaluation, which are directly related to the user?s sensory, cognitive, motor and using capabilities. With quantitative data it is possible to measure rates of usability deficiency and types/degrees of exclusion. It is also suggested what can be done by user-centered design, by respecting the dimensions of diversity intrinsic in human capabilities, technological environments and contexts of use for an inclusive products design and for all users? satisfaction
