RESUMO

The application of reinforced thermoplastic materials has been increased in the polymer industry, mainly the polypropylene resins (PP) reinforced by glass fibers (GV). The mechanical properties of PP reinforced with GF are directly related to the type and degree of interface interactions, depending on concentration, size and direction of the fiber, as well as the interface interaction efficiency of the fiber with the polymeric matrix. In this work a device for guided long glass fiber incorporation in polypropylene matrix was developed. Gotten pellets with 1,3cm of length were obtained. The material obtained, composites of PP with 15% of GF treated with aminosilane, was characterized by mechanical tests. The preliminary results showed that the adhesion matrix-fiber must be improved, substituting the PP matrix or adding functionalized PP with maleic anhydride (PP-g-MAH) that polymer will act as fiber-compatible interfacial agent to modify the interface interactions.
