RESUMO

The application of gas chromatography combined with mass spectrometry or with nuclear methods for the analysis of inorganic compounds is studied. The advantages of the use of a gas chromatograph coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer or with a high resolution radiation detector, are discussed. We also studied the formation and solvent extraction of metal chelates; an aliquot of the organic phase was directly injected into the gas chromatograph and the aluted compounds were detected by mass spectrometry or, when radioactive, by nuclear methods. An extensive review of gas chromatography applied to volatile metal derivatives is also included, pointing out the use of beta-diketonates. We also give a brief description of the three techniques that were used in this study.
