RESUMO

This is an investigation about the disabled body in the contemporary scene based on experience built in touch with Viva Dance Company. The work aims to reflect on the question of these bodies that are considered unsuitable for such practice and, concomitantly, the fact of this situation in the art scene inaugurates an awakening to new aesthetic possibilities of movement, creation and artistic production. Thus, the role of the disabled body in contemporary art scene comes to claim a place beyond words of the institutional model of inclusion and demands creative spaces and scenic access to the labor market in the arts. The research analyzes, through a qualitative methodology and based on a historical-critical analysis, the issue of Inclusive Dance and has as its main object of investigation the bodies of disabled dancers. From the investigation about the work of these artists the study will discuss issues related to the inclusion of the disabled body in the contemporary scene and questions about the usual paradigms such as social inclusion, training and professional autonomy.
