Cuidados e destinação final de embalagens, na utilização de agrotóxicos por produtores rurais no município de Itaporã - MS

RESUMO

The use of agrochemical products in the city of Itaporã / MS, is a reality and hence the concern with the handling and the disposal of packaging. The study aims to know the final destination of empty containers of pesticides in the city. This is a descriptive study, conducted with 134 people (owners, tenants or employees of the establishment), that worked with temporary agriculture and made use of pesticides, according to the register of Agraer and another commercial establishment. Through interviews in the field, it was identified the property and the employee, the use and type of pesticide used in farming, the use of EPIs, than the final destination of packages. Were used the software Access and SPSS, in the construction and analysis of information. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee in Research, Opinion Number 041/08. Most respondents had primary education, the wrapped packages of pesticides were washed adequately in the establishment and was informed about the requirement of triple washing and return of bottles. However, it was also observed situations considered erroneous according to allocation of bottles, as the case of reuse, burning and selling the packages, and addition to being discarded in the establishment. Although use highly toxic products, there was limited use of EPIs. It was concluded that there is need for continuous training, tightening the enforcement of legislation on the management of disposal of packaging these products in order to reduce the impact to human health and the environment.
