RESUMO

This work concerns on the creative industries, a set of related economic activities with the cultural segment and their increasing relationship between economic and cultural activities The goal of this research is the identification of the main characteristics of labors in creative industries in the metropolitan region of Salvador to get their profile and compare them with other ones in the same region. First, a review of literature is presented to show the relation between culture and economy and to point out the major aspects of the process of culture submission to the mercantile logic of century XX with the gradual incorporation of intangible inputs, also cultural ones, in the production process, that is, in the outputs enriched by symbolic attributes. Among these inputs, creativity gets a major role. The concept of creative industries appears in the end of 90s, related to public policy in order to promote regional economic development, articulated with the global economy. From the concept of creative industries is developed the idea of creative cities that assigns the application of public policy to recover old industrial cities victims of the process of degradation. In this context central attention is given to the controversial theory of the creative class, that ties regional development with the presence of a group of labors from services sector intensive in knowledge. They would be attracted to the places that develop 3Ts - talent, technology and tolerance. In this dissertation it is looked for, based on a multidisciplinary point of view and using available sources of secondary data, who are the labors and their characteristics, of the creative segment in the metropolitan region of Salvador, that stands out in the cultural context of Brazil.
