RESUMO

The present doctoral thesis aims to study the uses and habits of a mundane sociability that was located in Fortaleza city in the second half of the XIX century, within the urban changes that the alencarin city passed through. So, we thread out a reflexive path about its social familiarity preferentially from the lampoon papers and a conceptual reference of âCultural History of Humorâ, the social comical practices and from a moral and exclusive laughter. In other words, the way chosen has been the comical practice daily experienced by individuals who comunicated and defended their social and political interests trhough the humorous exercise, and that had as communication vehicle the lampoon papers that, even though the promoting enterteinment purpose, had a strong moralist speech. And the humorous, pornografic and insulting language of the little yellow papers, that worked as an effective power tool, was successful because of its use of a âcomic of wordsâ able to generate a logic of pleasure that excited as much as made docile the bodies. Thus, it was produced a sort of âpro humorâ, the âcostumbrista humorâ (âhumor of usesâ), that searched, trough laughter, to correct, moderate and model habits. A laughter with the correcting and flexibiliting social deviation function. Trough the comical practice (ethical-moral character), one could cause a shame and embarassment feeling, in order to the deviating element could fix and/or get that which dominant class expected and imposed, desirous it was of making recognize as necessary and incontestable implementing a more urban, modern and adapted to the civility rules society
