Correlação entre as manifestações da leitura/escrita e habilidades cognitivo-linguisticas em crianças com fracasso escolar

RESUMO

The main goal ofthis work is to explain the founding about students with bad school history and correlate the intellectual abilities to the child cortical functional areas, including those with good and bad school performance and correlate also founding about reading and writing skill tests to Phonological skill tests. Fifty students have participated in this study, their ages were in the range of 9 and 12 years old, between second and forth grades, all of them ftom Bauru City public schools. The study population were divided in two groups: Control Group (GC), with 25 child with good school history and no other disturbance like physical, behavior and emDtionalproblems that could cause loss of school performance; the other group (GF) with 25 students with bad school history verified by 2 or more events of fail (doing at least one same grade twice), those were selected by their teacher. lnitially the students selected by teacher made an evaluation that excluded students out of the profile described. So, it was made an hearing and visual evaluation. For confirmation of teacher s orientation was made an orthographic evaluation (Zorzi, 1997) with three dictation types: words in whole, phrases and textoAs a procedure, we applied the following tests: Reading test, based in Pinheiro (1994), Phonological skill test, Neurological evaluation (Evolutionary Neurological Examination) and Psychological Evaluation (Wescheler intelligence scale children - WISC and Gestalt Visio-Motor test - BENDER). The statistical analysis (Goodman test) shows that the performance achieved by students with bad school performance was in all cases worse if compared to those students with good school history.
