RESUMO

This research aims at understanding the role played by blogs and their potential to get democratic practices viable as content output, decisionmaking procedures, and shaping power over public policy planning. Could the Blogsphere turn into an alternative and independent communication medium? In this case, would it be a kind of small medium able to counterbalace the prevailing pattern imposed by traditional mass media to the point of coming to be considered the Fouthpower s antipower? Or else would it have already been drawn by the allencompassing media? In order to address these questions, this study unfolds a cartography of blog main categories which deals with political issues in Brazil. Aspects of mimesis and converging flows are confronted with the very Blogsphere and the net randomized features so as to offer a diagnosis of the current situation and the range capability of this new virtual tool
