RESUMO

Object networks (ONs) are a formal mode! proposal to describe discrete event dynamical systems, specially suitable to represent and simulate intelligent systems. Agent networks (ANs) are a class of ONs which uses an autonomous policy to generate the selection function, responsible for determining the network dynamics. In this work, a group of contributions to the study of ANs is presented, and can be summarized in three basic categories, as follows: (a) improvement of the formal model of ANs and a proposal of a formal treatment for the dynamics, (b) introduction of hierarchies in the context of ANs, including a proposal of formal model for modular ANs, and (c) implementation of a computational environment based on the distributed objects paradigm (CORBA) for the development of modular ANs
