RESUMO
The objective of this work was mapping the luminescent species in explosion flames. A system was construct to attained these objective and it was composed by a metallic tube where explosions are produced and a detection system to analyze the light emission of the explosion flames, through a quartz window on the tube. The system allows to control the temperature and partiaI pressure of the gases in the mixture. The analysis of flame emission was made from 300 to 600 nm, with steps of 50 nm and at 306 and 431 nm, that correspond to the emission from OH and CH radicaIs, respectively. The experiment was replaced several times each wavelength. The data was analyzed with adequate softwares to produce a surface, that relate emission intensity, wavelength and recording time. To make easy the study of results was obtained "level curves" of the surfaces. Using this methodology we had studied two gaseous mixtures, with partial pressure of: 25 mmHg of Ethanol vapour and 50 mmHg of Oxygen and of 25 mmHg of Ethanol vapour and 100 mmHg of Oxygen. The results show two different burning process during the analysis, one before the opening of the tube and other after the opening. The flames studied show burning velocities from 100 to 400 meters per second, that indicate propagation processes based on thermal conduction and diffusion of species, between the burned and unburned gases. Two different results indicate the "tulip" formation during the explosions. The increase of Oxygen partiaI pressure produced reduction on the CH and C2 radical emissioris. The presence of OH and CH radicals in the front flame wasn t influenced by the Oxygen pressure ar by the "tulip" formation.
