RESUMO

This work presents a modeI to optirnize the daily operational strategy of pumping in water supply systems with the objective of minirnizing the electrical energy use and cost. The modeI performs spatial and temporal analyses on the system to optirnizethe pumps switching, considering a daily horizon of programming with discrete intervals of three hours. The optirnization model uses the SCODA algorithm, which implements a formulation of Linear Programming in Generalized Networks. It is applied to the public water supply network of CAESA (Amapá Company of Water and Drain) in Macapá. It also performs a parametrical analysis for the energy cost with relation to variations in the minimum storage limit allowed for the water reservoirs. These limits are taken as a security measure of the network; the risk of water shortage decreases if the minimumlimit of storage increases. Due to the lack of enough operational data about the CAESA system, an operational simulation modeI was developed to represent the real behavior of the system. The results from the simulation and optimization model are compared
