RESUMO

With the objective of evaluating cutting systems spacings and sowing density on the intercropping of the cultures of soybean cultivated on sorghumÂs inter-row on the production and quality of the forage two trials were conducted on the agricultural years of 2002/03 and 2003/04 on the experimental area at the UFLA (Federal University of Lavras) Campus on dystroferric Red Latosol (Oxisol) Three cutting systems were used three spacings two sowing density on the sorghum crop and two additional treatments (monoculture of sorghum and soybean)The experiment was arranged in randomized blocks 3x3x2+2 factorial scheme with three repetitions The different cutting systems and spacings evaluated significantly modified the yields dry matter crude protein and accumulation of phosphorus potassium calcium magnesium and sulfur with emphasis to the second cutting system and the 80 cm inter-row sowing spacing which reached better performances The tested densities did not modify significantly the evaluated characteristics The use of the intercropping system also provided bigger dry matter yield crude protein and accumulation of the evaluated minerals except for the phosphorus when compared to the monoculture
