Comportamento informacional e evocação de notícias: estudo de caso com estudantes de Comunicação Social

RESUMO

The Universidade Federal de Viçosa´s mass media student´s informational behavior was the main reason that guided this research and monographic production, as well as pursuing knowledge identifying characteristics and use of the informational consumption from the theorical reference within the information science and the social communication field of work. It produced the informational map from the location and absence of information, observed the behavior in the news consumption and characterizi ng its remembering mechanisms. The theorical base of this study is the Sense-Making approach, placed in the users that search, location and useful of information and social-cognitive fields, of understanding and record remembering from media informational consumption. Discusses the user´s role in traditional and alternative models , is placed in the field of use rs studies with an approach either quantitative and qualitative using as gathering information data techniques open and semi-open quizzes, semi-structured interviews, focal groups, observation and Message Questioning Interview techniques and the study of the news reading techniques . The field work was made from April until December of 2007 in two parts. The first part was done with a pilot study covering 40 habitants from Viçosa´s city (Minas Gerais) and 40 students from the Universidad Federal de Viçosa. At the same time the structure of the study was overview, the data was attached and was verified the success of the techniques used. In the second part 71% of the student body in the same university was studied. In both cases was used as validation strategy the case study and the creation of an informational ambiance map, them is done a news remembering experiment. With the informational ambiance map is confirmed the existence of characteristics and limitations in the students search and use of information, revealing that the Internet is the main, and in many cases the only way of journalism information search; the changes within the profile of the student social involvement during the course, the quality control defaults of the informational journalistic products and its low quantity, and that 80% of the studied individuals see news television programs, 11% hears informational programs thru the radio and 93% use electronic journalistic products and only 4% reads imprinted journals on a daily basis. The informational ambiance map cross-examination together with the r emembering experiment confirms that the remembering quality is improved in the individuals with more reading habits; that these students have more and better diversified information sources with better critical decoding and social involvement. It is also confirmed the hypothetical affirmation presented in the study that the remembering of the news is improved within the information presented in the lead. The monograph finally shows some aspects to improve the quality of the developing and formation of the future information professional.
