RESUMO

The assessment and analysis of the external environment, and enable forward position the organization in relation to the aspects of competition in the industry of beauty and aesthetics, considering that the competition has caused an acceleration in demand, which refers to managers and strategic management practices tuned with the specific characteristics of the type of product offered in the provision of service, increased by information obtained from the external environment. This work aims to, examine the relationship of perception of organizational environment, strategic behaviour and performance, in view of managers of small businesses of beauty and aesthetics in Balneário Camboriú - Santa Catarina. Front to the characteristics of the goal, opted by a quantitative research, and the questionnaire was divided into five stages based on theoretical concepts studied, examine the environment, strategic behavior, performance, characteristic of the company, characteristics of the manager. Hundred and twenty were sent questionnaires distributed randomly by a group of researchers, the return was obtained from sixty-two questionnaires. The descriptive analysis of the data was carried out with support of statistical software. Featuring the look of the environment from three designs presented by Duncan (1978) Daft, Sormunem and Parks (1988) related the rate of complexity, and rate of change rate importance. In this research highlighted is that regarding the complexity variable that stood out was more customers, the rate of change highlighted by the variable technology, and the importance of the variable rate that was deployed to customers. The analysis of uncertainty strategic environment was characterised by the task with variable customer. Regarding the strategic behaviour, the basis for the study was from the design of Miles and Snow (1978) with the strategic typologies; defender, analytical, prospector and reactive. And examined by two perceptions. According to Conat, Mokwa and Varadarajan (1990) from a questionnaire involving eleven dimensions, and by Snow and Hrebiniak (1980) that analyzed from a single dimension. The result presented by eleven dimensions corroborates with the result presented by a single scale, the typology with more emphasis on the two tests, was the defensive. Regarding the performance was possible to see a steady increase for each period analyzed. Clearly that the characteristic defensive, aims to reduce and change the environment of uncertainty, allowing companies act with more caution, which corresponds with the positive performance of companies, namely the defensive this type positively correlated with the increase of performance
