RESUMO

The Brazilian Constitution prescribes access to information. But, the Public passengers Transport System user, many times, cant even know the time a bus departures from the Terminal Station. A precise and satisfactory information gives agility to users in their location and locomotion process, which defines the developing potential of the system. Nevertheless, information without structure is not a relevant, understandable or useful information to the public. Knowing it, this work considers the potential of communication by pressed visual signs, proposing the development of a Visual Information System in a structured way. For this purpose the most adequable type of information to this system were defined, and a descriptive structure (framework) were used to the analyses and comparing of graphical elements inserted in Visual Information Systems at the Public Transport Systems in some cities around the world. The descriptive structure allowed the detailing of graphical elements characteristics in detail, so the treatment given to the information putted in each system, and the frequency of common appearances of the elements could be verified. This dissertation proposes the application of the descriptive structure at the analyses and comparing of the Visual Information Systems at the Public Transport Systems and based on the found elements types of information and graphical elements frequently found shows as a result a propose of information and graphical elements of a Visual Information System for bus-subway terminal users, studying the Subway Central Station from Brasília
