RESUMO

This research aims to reflect about the human being as a project being who is being structured, socially and psychically , also in the work relations. The groups to which a person belongs to, among them working groups, always intertwined with family, community and social ties, constitute the necessary links to constitute his life and identity project.. The technique used for this research was Stories of Thematic Lives and the people studied were recycling material collectors . They are organized in an association and founded a collective project which has enabled a re-evaluation and the strengthening of their personal projects. This collective project, called Echos of the Green, constitutes a collective identity which has given value to the associated collector as an important worker in the complex web of the environmental preservation, considering him someone who works and has his place in the contemporary society which throws out almost everything. This study used the patchwork metaphor to create the identity constitution of the garbage collector. Each patch sewed to the patchwork represents the fragments gone through by individuals in the different groups and in the different moments of life . Each fragment is irreplaceable in order to form the story and the identity of a subject.. And only when the patches are being sewed together the fabric becomes a bedspread. Thats the way the garbage collector exists. He strengthens the threads, sews the patches of his life, entangles the fragments of his own life, sewing his into the life of others, thus making up his own patchwork. This worker, while turning garbage into an object of value, rethinks his project of life and becomes a worker. From all this surges the identity mediated by Echos of the Green :a hard worker, a worthy collector, a recycler of pain and misery. A courageous and brave missionary (missisoneiro), inheritor of the land of Sepé
