RESUMO

Project studios, concert halls, theaters or places that require quality acoustics for musical activities, require studies on its volume, shape and composition of their surfaces, in order to achieve a place that fulfills its function acoustics. In cases where the volume and shape of these rooms are already defined, it is the acoustic designer to define material that will form the surfaces, to ensure the requirements of the acoustic room. Desirable features for the perception of music in space, the sense of involvement of the listener is one of the most important being obtained by the sound scattered by rough surfaces. These surfaces are characterized by a coefficient called scattering coefficient, considered as a material property and used in simulation room acoustics programs. For studying the sound produced by scattering materials that make up the surfaces of room, this research studied perforated acoustic panels to verify that the variation of the irregularities of its surface acoustic scattering provided. The evaluation of the scattering surface was obtained by measuring the reverberation time in reverberation room. It was implemented the method for measuring the scattering coefficient in diffuse field in Laboratório de Conforto Ambiental e Física Aplicada - Unicamp to determine the scattering characteristics of acoustic perforated plasterboard in the market. The method of measuring the scattering coefficient was based on the method presented in "ISO 17497 (2004) - Part 1: Measurement of the random-incidence scattering coefficient in a reverberation room". Analyzing the results of scattering coefficient measured of the five types of perforated panels it was found that the values are very small and that the contribution of the panels for sound scattering is minimal
