RESUMO

When literature done by high school students is discussed, successful literature readers are expected. However, the practice reveals another reality. These students don t know how to read, they didn t learn to read although they have been at school for about eight years. Most students interpretation is not considered by teachers who admit as true only the interpretations suggested by didactic books. Based on this reality, this study s aim is to elaborate a reading proposal that valorizes the students reception and gives them enough instruments to help to explore and understand the several possible senses in a literary text. On this purpose, this research reached in Clarice Lispector the literary support because her writing is simple since her vocabulary and plots are easy, yet there is a message full of signs to be maken out between the lines of her literary texts. As a theoretical support this research was based on seemingly adverse theories but, in fact, they can be seen as auxiliary and complementary: the theories of Aesthetics of Reception and of Effect, by Hans Robert Jauss and Wolfgang Iser, in this respective order, which valorize both the reader and the Semiotic theory, by Algirdas Julien Greimas, who tried to describe and explain the text inward structures. Besides these theories, there was also the Receptional Method reading, by Maria da Glória Bordini and Vera Teixeira de Aguiar, Literary Reception Levels, by Hans Kügler, and the Lexical Field Building technique by Georges Maurand. With the effective application of this reading methodology it s expected that students become readers able to supply the text "holes" in a wise and critical way and, as a consequence, recognize one of the sources to have their expectations constantly amplified with literature texts reading.
