RESUMO

In this work is presented the characterization of the fines, stocked in I dam as tailing, proceeding from the ore treatment iron of the plant of the Córrego do Feijão mine, that in the year of 2008 had been generated 1,479,157 t. In the technological characterization of the samples, are presented size distribution by humid sieving, chemical characterization by plasma spectrometry, and mineralogical characterization by X-ray diffraction. Of ownership of the technological characterization had been executed technological assays. Rehearsals in bench scale for magnetic concentration, desliming, classification and flotation. It was observed that 91.79% of sample particles were -0,150mm and 58.81% -0,045mm. The sample presents average grade (calculated) 48.08%, 20.58% and 3.16% of the Fe, SiO2 and Al2O3, respectively. The iron minerals of identified in the global sample had been hematite, martite, magnetite and goethite. The gangue minerals identified had been quartz, gibbisite and caolinite. The chemical quality and mass recovery obtained in the present work can be considered as satisfactory regarding the objectives on the research. The best option of studied concentration consisted of the use of magnetic separation. The concentrate presented grade of Fe of 67.54%, SiO2 of 1.50% and mass and metallurgical recovery of 68.00% and 90.81%, respectively.
