RESUMO

This work had the purpose to contribute on improving database of physical site to enable useble inferences on soils manegements of “Banco da Terra” settlement (Fazenda Akolá), Londrina, Paraná State, were 42 families live and work. It was chosen soil sequencies with stage length for about 650 m and 10% of medium slope. Firstly, it were obtained four soil profiles, set on top elevation (P1) and on thieds at upper, medium and lower parts (P2, P3 and P4) respectively. After these, it were collected soul samples with deformed structures on each section and original materials of horizon Cr from profiles P2 and P4. In sequence soil profiles were morphologically described. Samples from horizon were submitted to physical, chemical and mineralogical analysis and original materials were described meso and microscopically. Obtained results proved to be basalt from “Formação Serra Geral”, the rock of soil sequencies. X-ray diffraction, used on clay fraction, without iron, of B horizon at all profiles showed predominance of kaolinite and gibbsite, followed by rare crystals of chlorite and/or dioctaedral vermiculite (alumina) and quartz. Photomicrographs of very fine sand fraction, generally showed a predominance of opaque minerals (magnetite, ilmenite, hematite/maghemite and goethite), rare detrital grains of quartz, anatase, zircon, tourmaline and clay minerals, with or without impregnation of oxides/hydroxides of iron. It was not observed in very fine sand fraction, the presence of easily weathered minerals (e.g. plagioclase). Molar ratios showed Ki and Kr values, indicating to be crescent the soil weathering degree on downstream – upstream directions (P4 – P3 – P2 – P1), and decreasing in depth at all profiles. Most significant positive correlations were: depth profile x flocculation; organic matter x Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC); organic matter x base saturation. Those ones that showed higher negative significance were: depth profile x clay on dispersed water; depth profile x organic matter; depth x CEC of profile. From presented characteristics by sample profiles, soils were classified, by Brazilian System of Soil Classification (SiBCS), as following: P1 profile is a typical Oxisol and P2, P3 and P4 profiles, Alfisol Eutrudox. Such characteristics are indicatives of conducive soils for agricultural use by settlers from “Banco da Terra” people, able to offer them amounts of a rent. Although, it is necessary more studies about right management of these soils for a better use with consequently environmental and economical sustainability.
