RESUMO

The aim of this work is to study the influence of the damping in wave equation with viscous damping utt - ?.u + ?ut = 0, and the strongly damped wave equation utt - ?.u - ?? ut = 0 . We are interested in stunding problems where the damping vary in between these two cases. More specifically, we will consider utt - ?.u +? ( - ?) ? ut= 0, where the parameter a satisfies 0?a? 1. These problems generate analitic semigroups for 1/2 ?a? 1. We will restrict our work to this range of the parameter a
